Windows Update : We're a few days away now!
over 2 years ago – Sat, Oct 23, 2021 at 11:14:01 AM

Hey folks,

We are excited to share some further updates around Windows support for Endlesss Studio. We now have a working version running as a standalone app and VST3. There are a few final usability, stability and performance issues we need to iron out but we should be able to share this with you in the next week.

We’ve now set up the Discord channel now where we have also posted this update and will continue to provide updates and progress. We will also use this channel to provide download links and a place to provide feedback whilst it is in beta/early access.

If you click on the link below and then tap the Windows emoji in our latest Announcement post, you will get added to Windows Early Access channel.

We just want to thank you again for your patience here and your continued support. Getting to this point has definitely been a lot more effort than originally expected but we are really close now!

See you in the Discord Channel!

Windows first build shipping in the next couple of weeks!!!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 09, 2021 at 12:03:41 PM

Hey there,

It's the end of summer, the timeline we set for shipping Windows is upon us and we're thrilled to let you know that we have prevailed in our epic quest to port Endlesss Studio to Windows!

  • We have a build running on Windows with all the main functionality
  • We’re still ironing out a couple of stability issues and have a couple of features to port
  • We’re looking to get first builds out to you in the next couple of weeks
  • Next week we would like to invite you to a Discord channel where we’ll post more regular detailed updates about our progress as we hone in on getting the Windows build out to you

Porting to Windows has been our main focus since the beginning of this year and has been a monumental effort, involving firstly a platform-wide refactor of how all our clients interface with our database - work we didn't plan as part of the Kickstarter timelines but realised would be crucial to delivering a good experience.

Then we had to create the Couchbase .NET wrapper which had plenty of its own challenges. Now we're excited to be able to show you the first glimpses of Endlesss Studio running on Windows.

This is a big milestone. There are still a few things we need to iron out. We’re aiming to share early builds with you in the next couple of weeks once we resolve these, and will then be providing regular updates as we add in additional features to bring Windows in line with the MacOS experience.

It’s been epic, and we really appreciate your patience. Until now we’ve been keeping our heads down to make headway but we want to start sharing more detailed updates about our progress with you. In the next week we’ll be setting up a Discord channel for this so please come and say hi when this is live.

We fully acknowledge that this has been more of a slog than we anticipated and truly appreciate your patience and support in backing us.

Thank you for bearing with us - can't wait to get this out to you!

A quick update on Endlesss Studio for Windows
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Jul 15, 2021 at 12:36:57 PM

We know that some of you are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Endlesss Studio on Windows so we wanted to give a quick update.

We’ve been busy working on refactoring and simplifying many of the areas around database management. This includes how we sync and upload Rifffs and manage user information. With this we are now porting over some of the external dependencies we use for this database management and - although not a trivial task - we are making good progress. We are still currently aiming for the end of the summer to start being able to support Windows.

Thank you for your support!

We're ahead of schedule and we're launching the first MacOS version today! 👀
over 3 years ago – Wed, Dec 16, 2020 at 11:48:16 AM

Hello! We're very excited to bring you this update today as we publicly launch the first version of Endlesss Studio for MacOS. If you're a MacOS user you will already have the first version of Endlesss Studio, the version which is going on sale today at 4pm GMT.

This version of Endlesss Studio isn't the full version we will be shipping to you. For HD backers we will roll out the HD feature-set next year and all backers will get a free upgrade of our next point-release which will include the sound design tool and the ability to share the sound packs you create between all your devices. For those who buy Endlesss Studio today this will be a paid upgrade.

All other features such as Windows support, avatars, song mode, arpeggiator etc will be rolled out during the course of 2021.

Once again, the team and I are immensely grateful for your support and for backing us early on in this fantastic journey. We look forward to building and shipping more and more core stuff to you!

All the very best wishes and seasonal greetings.

Endlesss Studio progress update - so far ahead of schedule!!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Sep 11, 2020 at 09:38:55 PM

Just over 2 months on and we're ahead of schedule!

Hi there, we're proud to present our first project update for you since our grand finale just over 2 months ago.

Watch the update video for an update on progress and a demo of where we've got to with the MacOS app & plugin.

STOP PRESS: This didn't make it into the video but for tax reasons we need to know your country of residence so watch out for a single-question backer survey update which we will need you to fill out before we send you Endlesss Studio.

To recap in case you didn't catch all that

  • We're currently ahead of schedule!
  • We will ship the alpha version to Studio HD backers by December and the beta version to Studio backers by Feb 2021.
  • Infinite lifetime access will be enabled as soon as we ship the alpha version.
  • Add-ons have now been manufactured and delivered. We're aiming to ship them out by the end of September

Development progress deep-dive

The video gives you a good idea of what we’ve done in the last 2 months but here’s a tl;dr for those who prefer to read:

  • Getting the plugin to show up in all hosts on all recent OS versions (harder than you might think!)
  • Host transport control / sync
  • Drag & drop rifffs from the plugin into your DAW’s arrange window
  • Porting the ‘chat UI’ to MacOS
  • Various stability issues

Here’s some more detail about the development timeline which would have made the video waaaay too long!

Alpha to-dos

‘Run-time’ MIDI-mapping
This will allow you to place Endlesss in ‘MIDI learn’ mode and quickly assign functions to your MIDI controller.

Solve ongoing OS permissions & sandboxing issues.
This will make sure your data saved and reloaded correctly, wherever you use Endlesss.

Optimising the UI/UX.
The best-made designs never feel quite right once you actually use them.

Improving the sound design tool.
So you can make, save and share your own sound packs

Associate ‘Infinite’ subscription license with ‘Studio HD’ license.
So we can unlock ‘Infinite’ for Studio HD backers.

Beta to-dos

Make an installer.
Life is cool when you can click one button and everything ends up where it should.

Build a proper downloads page.
The world has moved on from zip files sent via dropbox

Very excited to get this in your hands. It really feels like a game-changer and we can't wait to see what happens when you can seamlessly jam together with the wonderful array of sound-making tools which you already have in your DAW.

Thanks as always for your support. Stay tuned for more updates & have a superb weekend!
