How does Endlesss get around the inherent latency of audio over the internet?

Endlesss works around the typical latency issues by giving you an 8 track looper that you share with your fellow jammers. Those up to 8 layers together are called a Rifff. You or anyone in the jam can add to or remix those layers. This creates a new Rifff which is based on the previous one with your changes and additions in it. This new Rifff is immediately shared to everyone else in the jam and usually takes about 1-2 seconds only. This allows for all jammers to play with the same loop without having to be in perfect sync or on an extremely low latency connection.

Can you make songs or is it all just loops?

During or after your jam session you can export the Rifffs into your DAW as individual layers and build them out into an arrangement. If you work with Ableton Live’s session view, you’re probably already quite familiar with such a workflow.

Plenty of jammers have already made full songs out of their Endlesss jams including a whole album by The Veltron Transmissions released on our own label Endlesss Traxxx: https://theveltrontransmissions.bandcamp.com/

What happens when you exceed 8 layers in a Rifff?

Endlesss will automatically merge layers to make room for new ones. It will always try to merge similar layers first based on the instrument used. If you want to have more control over this behaviour you can either merge layers manually by running them through an FX together, or just mute layers that you want to remove from the Rifff.

Does Endlesss also transmit midi data?

Endlesss only transmits audio, which also means that you and your fellow jammers don’t have to use the same plugins and audio fx within your DAW or on your phone to hear the same results.

Can a person on Endlesss Studio (desktop) jam with someone on their phone?

Yes, both versions are compatible with one another since Endlesss deals only with audio.

How long can a jam get?

For as long as you want: Endlesss! With Endlesss Infinite (mobile app) and Studio HD (desktop) you can retain access to the full jam histories. Without Infinite or on the regular Studio version you can navigate back 100 Rifffs per jam.

How many jams can I create or be a part of?

You are not limited in that regard.

Will this work with <enter MIDI controller here>?

Endlesss Studio as a standalone app and plugin will be fully mappable. The standalone app will allow for a deeper integration, like the display on the Push controller.

How does copyright and authorship work on Endlesss?

We have a section on that in our terms of service: https://endlesss.fm/terms

In a Nutshell: Within the Endlesss platform anyone can do whatever they want with anyone else’s Rifffs as long as it stays on the platform. This allows for public jams or jams with strangers to exist where anyone can play with one another.

However, if you take it out of the platform via export or record it directly into a track on your DAW, YOU NEED PERMISSION from the jammers involved in the creation of the Rifff.

Each layer in a Rifff is labeled with the username that last changed it so its history can be traced back.

Imagine meeting up with friends (or strangers) in a studio to play some music together. When they leave you stick around to stitch together a song from all of the ideas (some recorded, some just played in the room that you then recreate). You would need permission from everyone involved if you wanted to publish that song. Now replace that studio where you meet with a jam on Endlesss. The exact same things apply. If you take something out of the jam (to put it in your upcoming song) you’ll have to get permission by everyone who contributed it.

In the future we will have fine-grained permissions systems per jam, so that you can for example prohibit straight up exports and have a notice in the jam that states so.

Is Endlesss just for electronic music?

Endlesss is for all types of music! Since you can use Endlesss Studio as a plugin, you can run any type of sounds into it. Even on our iOS app that launched earlier this year people have been jamming with their guitars, saxophones, live drums etc. Endlesss prides itself in being genre bending & breaking.

What is the difference between the iOS app and Studio?

Studio allows for midi mapping controllers, includes a sound designer tool and can be run directly as a plugin in your DAW. Studio HD also lets you sync your custom designed sounds to the iOS app and works with lossless audio.

Last updated: June 03, 2020 06:21

Can Studio HD users with lossless audio still jam with regular Studio or iOS users?

Yes, everyone can collaborate with anyone else regardless of which version they are on. Audio pushed by HD users will be lossless for other HD users in the same jam and lossy for anyone else. Audio pushed by regular users will be lossy for everyone in the jam.

Does Endlesss require an internet connection?

You can still jam offline by yourself if you enjoy the Endlesss workflow or don’t always have an internet connection or just want to play solo. If you’re in a jam with others and lose your connection, anything you jammed while being offline will be synced once a connection can be established again.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
